Water Clusters
Elastomeric Casting with Ice Molds

Casting is a fundamental fabrication technique with a broad spectrum of use. One negative aspect, however, is material waste from the required formwork. What if a water could be used as the formwork in a continuous, recycled manner? "Water Clusters" explores this material concept using ice as an infill in a casting process. Specifically, a block of ice is cast within a silicone mold. The ice melts as the silicone cures, and when the process is complete, the water is seamlessly embedded within a silicone membrane.
